Ultrasonic inspection techniques are ideal for welding examination and together with other method of none destructive evaluation allow us to do a proper welding inspection.
Pulse-Echo
Pulse Echo is the most common ultrasonic technique and has been widely used in industry for several decades. As its name suggests, it consists in the emision of ultrasonic waves into the material (pulses) and the analysis of the echos that are produced after the wave reaches a surface or any other discontinuty in the material. The use of this technique with and angular beam is one of the most effective for welding inspection, however, the calssical A-Scan presentation requires experimented operators
TOFD
TOFD (Time of Flight Diffraction). Is one of the most used techniques for butt welding inspection and in general high thickness steel components. Es una de las técnicas emergentes que posee mayor difusión.
Phased Array
Phased Array is an emerging technique and is becoming very popular with
excelent results and visualization power. One of the most used equipements is the
Omniscan MX.
The sectorial presentation and visual helps of the kind "ray tracing",
facilitates discontinuities' location and sizing.
Creeping Wave
Adicionally, Endalloy has experience in detection and sizing advanced techniques such as the Creeping Waves thecnique wich is particularly appropiate for the detection of internal surface cracking.
Endalloy's staff has the experience to accomplish mayor relevance and complex ultrasonic inspection proyects.
